Prepare tools

To be able to paint plaid walls, you need to prepare the following things:

One box of paints for each color selected

Rollers and trays

Paint brush

Tape measure

Coil

Markers (pencils, crayons, ...)

Chalk

Covering tape (paper tape): Type 2cm

Drag

Choose paint color

When choosing plaid paint colors for walls you need to pay attention to:

Choose the right color: You should not choose any paint color. Choose 2 paint colors that can be combined harmoniously and prominently, such as white and black.

Plaid wall painting construction

After choosing a paint color and preparing all the necessary tools, you can paint the plaid wall in the following 7 steps:

Step 1: Choose the wall to paint the stripes

You can paint stripes for the whole room or a certain wall. If you only choose to paint one wall, it is best to choose walls that are seamless, uninterrupted, have no doors and are not covered by furniture or objects.

Step 2: Measure and divide cells

To paint plaid walls beautifully, you need to choose the size of the cell and the type of stripe first, then you should measure and divide the plot.

Select cell size and stripe type:

Cell size: Depends on the area of the used space. If the space is large, you should divide the cell into small. If the space is small, you divide the big box.

Type of stripes: If you want the space to look taller, choose vertical lines. And if you want the space to be expanded horizontally, choose horizontal lines.

Measure and divide plots: Use a tape measure to measure and use a pen to mark the boundaries of the dividing cells so that the boundaries of the two ends of the wall must be evenly spaced. How to measure and how to divide the plot depends on the type of stripe you choose.

Vertical stripes: Measure the width of the wall to be drawn (from one wall edge to the other) and then start dividing the number of cells you want to draw vertically

Horizontal stripes: Measure the height of the wall (from the ceiling to the floor) and divide the number of cells you want to draw horizontally.

Step 3: Paint a lighter color than before

Pour the paint color, mix according to the manufacturer's instructions (if necessary) then use the roller to paint on the lines you have predetermined You should paint a little over the boundary line in case the paint does not seal the line . Then wait for the paint to dry.

Step 4: Mark with chalk

To be able to properly mark with chalk, you need to follow the following sequence:

Pull a string across the chalk or use chalk to paint over the string so that the string is covered with chalk.

Place the rope into the pen-marked split ends vertically or horizontally (depending on the type of stripe you choose).

Use adhesive tape to glue the two ends of the wire so that the wire is straight

Turn on the string to create a chalk line on the wall

Step 5: Stick the masking tape

Apply masking tape over the bright paint, following the chalk line all the way to the end of the wall.

Note: You can stick the tape wherever you go, mark the box in bold color there to avoid confusion.

Step 6: Paint a darker color

Paint the dark paint with the roller the same way you painted the light color. Or you can also use a paint brush to make sure the paint is just slightly above the edge of the tape.

Step 7: Finishing

Peel off the tape, now the wall has a clear two-color line.

Note: It is recommended to peel off the adhesive tape while the paint is still wet because the paint has not formed a uniform film at this time. In case of letting the paint dry, the paint on the line and the paint on the adhesive tape will bond together, forming a uniform paint film. At this point, if you peel it off, maybe the paint in the line will come out and the stripes will not be sharp and beautiful.

Transform with the method of painting the plaid wall

After you have painted the basic plaid wall, you can transform into other types of paint such as plaid, create simple shapes on the wall to make the wall new and more eye-catching.

If you do not want to use ceramic tiles, wooden baseboards, you can completely use the above method to paint the base of the house. Specifically, you can paint a dark color for the base of the wall and a light color for the upper wall as follows:

The process and selection of suitable paint

The paint for stainless steel not only increases the aesthetics but also helps prevent the material from being exposed to air, temperature, humidity, paint film after blending,... thereby reducing oxidation and corrosion effectively.

What is stainless steel (stainless steel)?

Stainless steel (stainless steel, stainless steel) is a type of steel alloy in which the carbon content by mass is at most 1.2%, the chromium content is at least 10.5%.

Stainless steel has the outstanding features of good corrosion resistance, high hardness and strength, high plasticity and forging speed, etc. Therefore, they are often used in construction materials, cooking utensils. industrial equipment,...

Although stainless steel is inherently resistant to corrosion, to make stainless steel more durable and beautiful, people often paint it. However, if you only paint with normal water, it will quickly peel off. Therefore, people often prepare the surface thoroughly and prime it before applying the industrial coating.

Prepare stainless steel surface before painting

Before painting stainless steel, you need to prepare the surface according to the following steps:

Step 1: For best results, the surface must be blasted. If abrasive blasting is not possible, sand the surface with 120 grit sandpaper.

Step 2: Clean rust and unstable substances, remove grease, dirt, and unstable paint film...

Primer for stainless steel

After preparing the surface, you can proceed to prime the stainless steel with specialized primers. This is an important step that cannot be ignored because it determines the adhesion of the paint on the stainless steel surface.

Primer for stainless steel is a type of paint used to make a primer between the stainless steel surface and the coating. This type of paint has outstanding advantages such as:

No peeling, blistering when painting on stainless steel surface, but can create a strong, beautiful paint.

Helps increase the adhesion of the coating to the stainless steel surface and prevents the coating from swelling.

Helps to conceal imperfections on the stainless steel surface and helps the paint coating to be in the right color and color standard.

Prevent the contact of iron in stainless steel with oxidizing and corrosive substances such as sea salt, etc., so that the stainless steel surface is always bright and beautiful.

Resistant to the effects of weather such as ultraviolet rays, temperature, humidity, rain, wind, ...

Paint coating for stainless steel

After priming, you should allow at least 16 hours for the paint to dry completely before applying the top coat.

Why do you need to paint plaster ceilings?

Gypsum ceiling panels usually have a grayish gray color, so the paint color of the building is not uniform. Therefore, it is necessary to change the color of the plasterboard with the correct painting process, ensuring the quality of interior paint adheres to the plaster.

Surface preparation

To ensure good paint adhesion quality, it is necessary to prepare a clean, stable and dry surface by:

Flatten the ceiling surface: Use a grinding wheel and sandpaper to smooth the rough spots on the plaster surface.

Clean dirt: Use the soft bud to wipe away dirt, grease, mold and wait for the surface to completely stabilize before moving on to the next step.

Treat cracks and voids (if any) with technical tools and must be left to dry for 72 hours at 30 degrees Celsius before continuing.

Putty putty

Apply putty putty when the plaster ceiling surface has completely stabilized. For new construction, after 7 days, the ceiling is completely dry before painting.

Check the surface: Make sure the ceiling surface is flat, no voids, no cracks.

Prepare Putty: Mix putty according to the manufacturer's instructions for a homogeneous mixture.

1st layer of putty: Make sure to apply a layer with wet patch thickness of 0.8 - 1mm (dry patch thickness is 0.5 - 0.6mm)

Wait to dry: Allow to dry for 16 hours at 30 degrees Celsius or until set.

Put the second layer of putty: After the drying time, continue to apply the second layer of putty with the same thickness. The minimum drying time is still 16 hours at 30 degrees Celsius.

Sanding: to ensure the surface is flat and smooth.

Finish putty: Check that the putty is flat, smooth, dry and stable before moving on to the next step of primer and paint.

Primer plaster ceiling

The completely dry and stable putty is primed to create a good adhesion, bonding and strong base for the plaster ceiling surface.
